Designers were asked to use Engage to gather community feedback on their proposal. See that people said
For Stage 1, designers were asked to use Engage to gather community feedback on what they would like to see in the select site.
Here is your chance to provide design feedback to the designer. Please be respectiful.
Canopy Loops, as the name suggests is a space that weaves together the overlooked area adjacent to my Final Year Project (FYP) and the forthcoming Cantonment MRT Exit B. This connection is achieved through a dynamically looping bridge that loops around the trees across the road. Beneath this bridge, a sheltered pathway is adorned with uniquely coloured lights, creating a distinctive and visually appealing ambience for users both on and below the bridge.
The site chosen is underutilized as when conducting site analysis, the Visual Graphic Analysis (VGA) highlighted its prominence as a high-visibility location, while Gate Counts revealed a surprisingly low human traffic flow. This synthesis of data underscored the potential of the space, prompting the conception of Canopy Loops as a space where people can gather, rest, exercise and even host events.
Above all, it is designed to allow users to pause and take a moment to appreciate the captivating Art Deco-inspired facade of the renowned Former Tanjong Pagar Railway Station and the nearby Spottiswoode Hills, a beloved route for exercise and running enthusiasts.
The architectural design of the structure was designed to provide users with a unique, diverse, and sensorially engaging experience, taking into account their needs and wants as gathered during the Engage Stage 1. This is accomplished through the strategic incorporation of dynamic forms, play in transparencies, varying heights, and visual connection between the various levels, all while ensuring that the design harmoniously integrates with its surroundings.
