Spottiswoode park currently lacks amenities and is not maintained. Through site analysis and talking with the residents, they love to gather, exercise and interact with their neighbours through their love for dogs and bond over common interests, and would appreciate more communal areas. this site has a great view of the railway station, and is on elevated grounds away from the roads, creating a peaceful and tranquil area surrounded by lush greenery.
Tranquil Terrace aims to utilise the exisiting & under-utilised park, to provide residents with a pavilion where they can do what they enjoy. there are 3 main areas with varying privacy levels - a rest stop, a picnic area as well as a communal space. for the rest stops, it has the lowest ceiling height to create a more intimate space, while the communal area has the highest ceiling with a roof deck to invite more people in, and create a slightly more vibrant space. terracing and varying the heights of each space also aid as a design strategy to encourage wind flow throughout the site. the viewing deck faces the railway station and provides a nice view of the tracks.
