How would you craft the future of a new park in downtown Chicago? DuSable Park, a long-ignored dirt parcel in downtown Chicago, is on the verge of being transformed into a vibrant urban park that celebrates history and enhances the neighborhood. What do you think its future should look like? How do you think it can become the next great Chicago park?
Your challenge is to design your vision for the future of DuSable Park. Your design should incorporate community input with innovative and positive community values. We encourage you to focus on practical, interactive, and sustainable solutions that improve people’s quality of life.
You may choose to design a park that focuses on history & education, life on the lake, children, or a missing component of downtown living. It is open to your interpretation.
After you create your design, use Engage to gather community input on your proposal from your friends, colleagues, classmates, coworkers, and anyone else you think will provide helpful feedback.
You may choose to edit your design based on this feedback. It is important that your design addresses your community’s feedback and transforms DuSable Park from a vacant patch of grass into a vibrant community asset.
Once you’re happy with your design, submit it for award consideration!
